“How shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?” Rom.10:14
We have begun another year of mission school sessions, desiring to mobilize the churches in Poland to understand their important role in missions.
Our initial school session of the year was an Open Weekend in October. It was run a bit differently than other sessions. Instead of teaching on topics related to missions, we invited 5 different polish speakers to share from their recent mission experiences. Feedback from those who attended confirmed it was an extremely encouraging time.
This past Friday we invited some local children and instead of holding our usual youth meeting, we did a program for the kids around teaching, singing, and a Bible lesson. It went very well, our youth leading everything, and being actively involved with the kids. The youth have decided to organize this type of meeting for the kids once each month.
The youth who were once in their awkward teenage years are now "progressive" college students. As Mark, the main leader, has left to go back to the US with his family, several of the young men are now team leading, with me as an advisor and coach, so to speak. This role is one which I find comes naturally to me. Of course, there are bumps along the way, but as a team we are learning to communicate together. This is extremely valuable for these young men, as healthy communication isn't stressed in this culture, which leads to many problems, even amongst Christians. Most role models of communication in society or families are unfortunately quite the negative. Last Friday night we talked over ideas and brainstormed about a retreat we'd like to have in December. I was impressed at how the guys listened to one another but also easily gave their own input.
